HONEY

Here are some answers to our most commonly asked questions.

  • Q. The honey has crystallized and turned white — is it still safe to eat?
  • A. At temperatures below 59°F (=15°C), honey may crystallize — a completely natural process that occurs only in pure, raw honey. This does not affect its quality in any way. To return it to its original state, simply store it in a warm place or place the jar in warm water.  (Snowbell flower honey tends to crystallize at temperatures below 62.6°F (=17°C), as it contains a higher ratio of glucose to fructose.)

  • Q. How should I store honey?
  • A. Store honey at room temperature in a warm place, away from direct sunlight. Avoid refrigeration or storing it in cold temperatures, as this can cause the honey to crystallize. Crystallization is a natural process and does not affect the quality of the honey.

  • Q. Are there any precautions when consuming honey?
  • A. Yes, here are some important precautions to keep in mind when consuming honey:
  1. Do not give honey to infants under 1 year old due to the risk of botulism.
  2. People with allergies to bee products should avoid honey or consult a doctor before consuming.
  3. Consume honey in moderation, as it is high in natural sugars.
  4. If you have diabetes or blood sugar issues, consult your healthcare provider before adding honey to your diet.
